Personal statement

I bring with me ten years’ experience working as an engineer and a wide-ranging skill set and expertise in all aspects of project management, building sustainability. This includes leading multiple projects for public authorities and in the private sector. I have been involved at all stages, from project planning and design, consultation, stakeholder engagement, construction through to delivery and maintenance. I come with a strong understanding of IT tools (especially Excel). I am currently working part time in Colville, where I live with my kiwi family. In addition to volunteering in my community, I am currently focused on furthering my company, Connect PM, to apply my skills in sustainable engineering.

2021 (2y)     The Colville Project Coromandel, NZ

The Colville Project Charitable Trust is a community led project development to construct a Colville well-being centre (including Health services area, social services and event area), Housing and Recreational area for youth thecolvilleproject.nz  

Responsibilities

Working with the Board of Trustees, responsible for:

• Procurement, tendering for architectural services, managing contracts

• Purchase of the land

• Development of the infrastructure and facilities

• resource consents process

• Urban planning

• Administrative work for the Trust, Strategic planning, Delivery plan, Monitoring

• Grant applications and relationship development with funders

• Marketing and Communications strategy (website, newsletter, social media, brochures…)

Achievements

• Successfully managing the planning and design phase of the construction on time

• Developed good working relationships with the entire stakeholder’s spectrum (Iwi, Contractors, Council, Local communities, Funders…), that ensured successful coordination of funding applications

2021 (current)     Colville Junction Coromandel, NZ

Colville Junction is a not-for-profit community organisation  colvillejunction.co.nz  that organises events, training, environmental project, and social services for the Northern Coromandel area

Responsibilities

• IT systems and infrastructure, administering workspaces and technologies. Excel proficiency.

2018 (3y)     EU Environmental Engineer, Project Manager Brussels, BE

European Parliament: Rebuilding the European Parliament Henri Spaak building with debating chamber, in Brussels, 100,000m²

Responsibilities

• Launching the international architectural competition of detailed sketches: writing the tendering, technical and functional programme, selection and evaluation of the candidates, environmental certifications (such as DGNB, BREEAM, WELL), monitoring project progress

• Directing all environmental and HVAC aspects of the project: setting the highest ambitions to create a world- leading building, organiser of the “Charter for an Exemplary Building from an Environmental Perspective”

• Implementing a broader definition of “environment” for building projects as: Urban, social and natural environment. Communicating about multi-disciplinary green engineering, integrating regenerative design and bio-climatic solutions as basic principles (systemic water management and use of rainwater, biodiversity - Increased integration of flora and fauna in and around the project, sustainable materials by LCA, quality of the air inside and outside, waste management, energy saving and management) 

• Driving exemplary zero waste practises (e.g. on building sites), circular economy, urban planning for social linkages, effective use of artificial intelligence and behavioural adjustment, mobility-transport and energy (HVAC and electricity) efficiency

2017 (1y)         Multi-disciplinary engineer, Project manager        Montpellier, FR

Responsibilities

• University Paul Valery: led the team managing 90,000m² of public buildings (university, offices, museum, library, technical buildings) 

• To ensure BMS, HVAC, security, electricity, access control

• Writing and managing public tendering, contracts and subcontracts

• Managing projects of renovation (Teaching building), and construction (new Library/Hub)

Achievements

• Implemented a new maintenance team management software, based on the Building Management System and its Supervision leading to save money and time, successful public procurement for contractors

2014 (1.5y) Director, department of energy for public buildings Aix-en-Provence, FR

Responsibilities

• Aix-Marseille Métropole: Team leader of energy efficiency and HVAC department for the regional council: 100,000m² / 70 public buildings (17 indoor swimming pools, 2 museums, office buildings, concert and theatre etc.) to maintain, operate, run, and improve temperature and humidity comfort

• Managing a 3-person team: organising shifts, days off, team coordination

• Planning, calculating and organising the €3M maintenance budget. Creating and writing private contracts with companies to secure the running of the buildings and the continuity of service

• Tracking, analysing and managing the consumption of gas, electricity, renewable energy and wood. Reporting. Risk management. SWOT analysis 

• Improving efficiency of buildings: conducting efficiency audits, tailoring solutions, and managing several building sites’ HVAC, retrofitting and thermal rehabilitation

Achievements

• The total renovation of three swimming pools including the filtration and treatment of the water

• Achieving €120k cost saving in water and heating cost on the operational budget

2011 (1.5y)        HVAC Development and Construction - Project Manager  Strasbourg, FR

Responsibilities

• Being the Principal manager of the Construction HVAC department in two agencies for IDEX ENERGIES

• Business Engineering responsibilities including: Trade, studies, design, planning, implementation, monitoring of projects, team management and financial monitoring of HVAC installations (power: 300kW to 2MW – budget: €10k to €300k).

• Managing the construction of a 900m², 13.3MW biomass and gas boiler, and renovation of the heat network (1700 dwellings connected). 

• Ensuring the coordination of 13 multi-disciplinary installation teams.

Achievements

• Construction budget (€6M) maintained

• Timeframe respected despite significant unforeseeable delays

• This project divided by two the energy bill for the neighbourhood of 5000 inhabitants  

• Renovation of the waste-water system in 12 apartment buildings

Responsibilities

• Design Engineering (6months), for the development of a Design and Advice department EDF - (Electricity of France), BET HUGUET: Managing the Project office for building owners: writing contract notices/specifications, energy auditing

• Fluid Engineering technician (3 months), for AXIMA SEITHA, Design Preparation and building: thermal balance, design, plans, diagrams

• Energy Technologies worker (3 months), for VINCI ENERGIES, on a hospital construction site, with the HVAC installation team

Working and volunteering with communities for success

• Board of Trustees Colville School : deputy chair since 2022

• Colville Harbour Care: member of the steering committee in 2017, planting native trees around the catchment

• Colville Sailing Academy: Treasurer, giving free access to sailing lessons to youth

• Colville Bay Preschool: Secretary of the incorporated society and charity, IT support and infrastructure, and the workspace administration
